1923 Colotois pennaria (Feathered Thorn)

Geometridae, Ennominae Wingspan: 38-46mm.

A common species throughout the UK, and well distributed in Cornwall. It is unmistakable, being quite large and nicely coloured.

A Winter species, which occurs in the later part of the year, it is always welcome to see it at a time when there are few moths around. The flight season seems to be true throughout the UK as being from September to December, although in Cornwall, they are seen more consistently through the border months.
