That looks like a long-horned bee. A few minutes ago I was reading an article in the Observer about its decline and the consequent decline of an even scarcer bee, the six-banded nomad parasitic bee, that lays its eggs in this poor bee. There is a project run by Bug-life to create long-distance wildflower pathways across England to encourage all sorts of wildlife including these endangered species.

Thanks Phil, very much appreciated. I think this is just one of the common Andrena species that frequent my garden, The long Horned Bee is one I have yet to record here, but I live in hope.
