Woundwort Shieldbug (Eysarcoris venustissimus).

A Woundwort Shieldbug (Eysarcoris venustissimus) in my garden. This tiny specimen was sitting on a plastic compost sack, hence the unusual background. There is a breeding colony of these delightful little insects in my garden now, created by simply allowing their main food plant, Hedge Woundwort (Stachys sylvatica) to grow in a few places around the garden.

These are a beautiful species, I have quite a large colony in the garden now, all I had to do was allow their foodplant, Hedge Woundwort, to grow. Thank you for your kind comment.
