Double-deck trains are being suggested for some of the UK's more crowded routes. Have you travelled on ones like this? Are they easy to access?

Yes, the last generation of french double-deck trains are easy to access and comfortable. ;-)

Thanks for your reply. Our transport authorities are looking at ways of getting more passengers into trains in our crowded southeast corner of England. We have a smaller 'loading gauge' on many lines than most of Europe, with lower bridges and tunnels, so making trains bigger will be a problem.
