Submarine "Barracuda" (1968).
Displayed in a dry dock at Cacilhas, Almada. It was manufactured in 1968 in the shipyard of Dubigeon, Nantes, France. With a length of 57.78 metres it could reach a speed of 16 knots (30 km/h) in immersion. Its crew consisted of 7 officers, 15 sergeants and 32 navy soldiers. It could immerge as deep as 300 metres and remain immersed up to 31 days. It had a capacity to store 12,000 litres of water for consumption.
It was on duty until 2010 and in those 42 years of service it navigated a total of 263,358 nautic miles - circa 12 trips around the world.
