Spotted Lake

For SSC: Black and White landscape.

We were on the road, so I did not contribute for a couple of Saturdays. We saw many wonderful landscapes, but none as unique as this place along Highway 3 near Oysoyoos, British Columbia, Canada. It is on indigenous land and is sacred to the Syilx Okanogan Nation.

Two weeks earlier, it just looked like a pond.

That's a great image, and a fascinating place. I was struck by this sad contrast in the Wikipedia article: "Spotted Lake was for centuries, and still remains, revered as a sacred site thought to provide therapeutic waters. During World War I, the minerals of Spotted Lake were used in manufacturing ammunition."
