Found in a tiny Greek Orthodox Church on the floor :a magazine photo pasted onto a piece of cardboard. It resembles one of the Fayum portraits, and the transition between Roman and Byzantine icon making.

Very interesting , and as you say its right on the cusp between Roman and Byzantine, you can see a little bit of both in it , very well spotted!!!!

I was unaware of the Fayum mummy portraits and the role they played in the evolution of Roman to Byzantine portraiture.
I was amazed at the mastery of these portraits.
