more war scenes

At a proposed open-air museum in Karlovac. I do not know which of the engines of war shown were Serbian or Croatian. Karlovac itself was heavily damaged.

First World War poetry of Wilfred Owen:
"Be slowly lifted up, thou long black arm,
Great gun towering toward Heaven, about to curse,
Reach at that arrogance which needs thy harm,
And beat it down before its sins grow worse;
But when thy spell be cast complete and whole,
May God curse thee, and cut thee from our soul!"

I'm familiar with that poem as it was set in the Britten "War Requiem," which, coincidentally, I heard broadcast last evening. (11/14/2013)
