Leverburgh,

The Shannon class lifeboat "RNLB Stella and Humfrey Berkeley " which arrived on station at Leverburgh, Isle of Harris in 2018 however operations were suspended in November 2019 due to lack of crew members, this boat has now been replaced with an Atlantic 85 inshore boat, "John and Louisa Fisher" (BBC and RNLI web pages) I assume13-25 is now in the reserve fleet,

Roger (Grisly) replied to Andy Rodker:

Thank you Andy, I guess your home county has many of these, and well remember the brave souls who lost lives in the service.

It seems well suited to its business.
Pity she could not stay there but the new one will do, I hope.

A very well taken image of this lovely looking lifeboat. Such a shame that it's not being fully utilised. As a former sailor I've always had a great respect for the RNLI and I think it's disgraceful that what is, in fact, an emergency service has to rely on contributions from the public to operate. It should be properly by the government (sorry - rant over)!

Andy Rodker replied to Roger (Grisly):

A friend of my family in Cornwall knew one of the Penlee heroes (I didn't know him personally) from Mousehole pretty well and were quite cut up at the time as you can imagine.
