Morning Near the Blue Mosque (street scene I)

The streets close to the Blue Mosque wake with a gentle energy, the air crisp and filled with promise. Sunlight filters through the gaps between buildings, painting the cobblestones in shifting patterns of gold and shadow. People move with purpose—local women hurry to the market, shopkeepers arrange their wares, and the occasional stray cat watches from a doorstep.

This is a place where history and daily life meet. The Blue Mosque, with its grand dome and slender minarets, looms nearby, a reminder of centuries past, while the narrow lanes teem with the rhythm of the present. The scents of fresh bread, spices, and strong Turkish coffee drift from open doorways. Voices murmur in half a dozen languages, blending with the distant call to prayer.

Here, every corner tells a story. The photo captures not just a street, but a moment—a glimpse of Istanbul’s soul, where the old world and the new walk side by side, and every morning feels like a new beginning

A wonderful backlit scene. I like the pentagonal sun reflexes, they add to the photo.

Thank you. I checked that those I called 'sun ghosts' and to catch them for me is never planned, rather than using the opportunity. I am glad it is not taken as a flaw, I quite like them...
