Notation: Painted on his cart is “W.H. Morgan Grocer 140 Higgins Ave”. This is confirmed by a listing in the 1906 Henderson's Directory for "Morgan W. H. grocer 140 Higgins". The 1901 Census indicates that William was born in Ontario on November 17, 1869 and his occupation was grocer. He was living with his wife Sophy (Sophia, Sophie) and 1 year old son Rhys. in the 1906 Census, the couple had added a son, Howell, born on 1904. In the 1916 Census, the family was living at 788 Wolseley Street William was now listed as the manager of a Grocery company. The couple had added two more children - Ruth, born in 1907 and Gwynneth, born in 1910. In the 1921 Census, the family was still together in their home on Wolseley.

I found a 1906 story about Morgan's horse and wagon breaking away from is hitch downtown and galloping madly north. It collided with another wagon causing extensive damage and throwing the occupants from it. The Morgan rig was finally stopped on North Main somewhere.
