Good question. This is my (somewhat) educated guess... while several cards label the scene as from the Red River, I saw at least one that said from the Assiniboine. I think the river pictured is more the width of the Assiniboine. If that is the case, we would be looking at the southern-most wall and the south gate of the Fort - and the closeness to the River is more probable.
