Very nice composition, but what does the sign mean? I could not guess!

for your visit, I am pleased that you like this picture.
This sign (together with the upper lighthouse Nr. 30) shall make
the navigation easier and safer. Boats entering the small river
Pinnau just have to bring the two signs (each with a flashing light)
in a vertical line thus ensuring that they are in the middle of the navigable water.
As can be seen on the map, the mouth of the Pinnau is quite straight
so ships can find their way easy even in the dark.
Both pictures are part of my "50 images project" of lighthouses
along the river Elbe. There are approx. 80 lighthouses from
Hamburg port to the northsea and most of them are already

Diese Zeichen sollen es Booten ermöglichen, ohne Hindernis in der
Fahrwassermitte der Pinnau zu schippern. Für die großen Pötte
auf der Elbe gibt es viele Leuchtfeuer-Pärchen - siehe auch meinen
Text im Album.
Das sind meist richtig große Leuchttürme, solch kleine Seezeichen fand ich eher selten.
Hier wars fast eine kleine Expedition ins Niemandsland ; )
Die Touren zum Aufspüren der diversen Leuchtfeuer
haben schon an sich viel Spaß gemacht, das shooting selbst
ist dann wie die Belohnung für die Anstrengungen davor.
