Rua Augusta
Baixa (Downtown) is one of the first examples of a city conceived under the design of a team of architects under Marquis de Pombal's supervision. Perfectly rectilineal and wide streets were in the middle of the 17th century put in practise in the center of Lisbon. An inovation at the time. The very conception of urbanism was being born.
