Hverfjall is a tuff ring near Lake Mývatn that was created ca. 2500 years ago in a massive phreatomagmatic eruption (hot magma reacting with groundwater). It is part of the Krafla volcanic system.

On the left in the PiP and just SE of Hverfjall is another tuff ring, 6600 years old Lúdent.. The big mountain in the background is Búrfjell, a 959m high tuya (table mountain created by volcanic eruptions under a glacier)

We have the same here, all shutters and curtains/blinds closed, windows wide open in the early morning when it' s supposed to be cooler (lowest temperature last night 21°C). Every day it gets hotter inside, right now nearly 28°C. It's been like this for nearly a week now and it will continue at least until Monday...

Two fantastic shots Gudrun..!!
Some cold weather would be nice here as well......32C today and high humidity. Some places in continental Europe are even hotter!
