Ferrocarril de Arica a La Paz

Ehemaliges Enpfangsgebäude (heute Museum) der 1913 eröffneten Arica-La Paz- Eisenbahn. Auf dem Platz davor steht noch eine alte Zahnrad-Lokomotive (Plakette: Maschinenfabrik Esslingen 1924).

Die wechselhafte Geschichte der 457 km langen Strecke, die von Meereshöhe auf bis zu 4257 m ansteigt, ist hier zu lesen:

Ja, das wäre noch ein Traum, aber zum einen ist die nächste Reise noch lange hin (wenn überhaupt) und dann ist unser Hauptziel immer im Süden, denn dort leben unsere Freunde, die wir besuchen.

Das war ja mal ein nobler Bahnhof. Immerhin hat man das Gebäude nicht abgerissen und nutzt es jetzt als Museum.
