Røros town and copper mines were founded in 1646 and operated until 1977, in 1980 the mines and town were declared UNESCO World Heritage. On the right is smelthytta (copper smelter) which today houses the museum, left are the slag heaps.

Schönen Dank, Dida! Auf 630m (Norwegens höchstgelegene Stadt) wollte der Nebel nicht recht weichen, auf dem Weg nach Røros schien die Sonne:-)

Herzlichen Dank, Edna! Das Städtchen selber ist mit seinen Holzhäusern klein und gemütlich. Es gibt Ende Februar einen berühmten Wintermarkt und ebenfalls im Februar ein ebenso berühmtes Hundeschlittenrennen.
