Blenheim Palace: Water Garden

Blenheim Palace stands in a romantic park created by the famous landscape gardener 'Capability' Brown. It was presented by the English nation to John Churchill, first Duke of Marlborough, in recognition of his victory in 1704 over French and Bavarian troops. Built between 1705 and 1722 to designs by John Vanbrugh, it is a perfect example of an 18th-century princely dwelling.

Amazing architecture..............and I really like the way the sunlight has brought out the colour and detail in the stonework. A pretty impressive looking formal garden as well. I like the splash of red from the parasols and the people in shot gives a good idea of scale.

Definitely worth viewing large for the magnificent detail.

Two super images in the PiPs as well together with an interesting narrative and link!

Gudrun replied to Keith Burton:

Thanks a lot, Keith! It's a mightily impressive place! I wish we could have explored the vast park but at least we got to see the exhibtion "Icons of British Fashion" in the palace- that was fun!
