Art Nouveau took it's own course here in Finland. Here the period of romantic nationalism lingered for half a century, and got mixed with later art movements. If you are familiar with epic poetry of Kalevala and art by Akseli Gallen-Kallela, you may find the connection between "heavy" and "light" visual art typical for Finns. Hugo Simberg, artist who have done the art inside this church, studied art under Gallen-Kallela's supervision.
Thank you for the links, I didn't know either! Yes, different countries developed different styles and implemented new trends at their own pace. That makes it so interesting.
