Tomte

"The tomte/nisse is an echo of ancient ancestral cult. It is thought that the tomte/nisse was considered spirits of previous generations at the homestead, and there are references to them following the family/clan, when they are moving."

Thank you Wendi =) I guess it has been rather comforting to believe in such small helping goblins, when people have lived very very very isolated life compared to what we have today.

Our tomte used to be a little grey clad man. You had to be nice to him otherwise bad things could happen to you and your family. Now of course he is our Father Christmas/Santa dressed in red.
