Waiting for Godot
In 1962 at the height of the cold war, the city of Toronto built an underground preparedness centre north of the city. Situated off the side of a century home it was located at a safe distance, and at an elevation that would maximize communications.
It would serve as a dispatch centre for emergency personal after the atomic bomb had been dropped. It is the last municipal preparedness centre in Canada.
It was never used. Still waiting!
