Chinon Bokeh

This is a photograph of two identical Auto Chinon f/1.7 55mm lenses from the 1970s photographed with a Nikon D2Xs and a 55mm f/3.5 Micro-Nikkor lens (the EXIF records the taking lens as a 20mm Nikkor; I forgot to enter the data for the 55mm).
These particular Chinon lenses are often claimed to have been made by the Tomioka factory; there was a very similarly styled f/1.4 55mm Auto Chinon which is also reputed to have been a Tomioka product, perhaps with even greater certainty.
You can buy one of these lenses in M42 screw fit and use it on a digital camera via a cheap adapter. The quality is stunning. They are so good, I bought two.
