Totally understand -- we had to take some trees down when we were in Lakeland ... some due to disease, but most -- whoever planted them had NO idea how large they would get ... My Dad used to come by every so often ... "Peggy, you know those ______ trees belong in a forest."
Yes, I did -- especially the Monkey Pod Tree -- planted at the end of the driveway ... it spread almost to our house, but way too close to the neighbor. Have you ever seen one?
The branches don't have the usual leaves .. they are spike shaped [ yes, they do hurt even if they fall when a new one replaces it. When we had it removed -- all branches had to be removed before doing anything else. Oh, forgot ... picture a pineapple in a tree .. but covered with hard scales that fall to the drive .. if one of those pineapple shaped things fell on my car ... it would have made a HUGE dent !
Searching for the name of the tree we called a Monkey Pod .. so fat, all I'm finding are Rain Trees .. which are nothing like what we had ... we did have a Rain tree and the one I referenced above isn't even close.. Will continue ...
I think I know what you are talking about. I'll keep my eye out for one. We have Rain Trees all over the yard. They spread like crazy. Pretty trees, but too invasive.
