Hoverfly On Flowers
The lovely little Episyrphus balteatus – Hoverfly is probably the best known of the Hoverflies not only because it is a common visitor to parks and gardens but because they can occur in large numbers. Found throughout Europe and most commonly seen feeding on nectar from a large variety of flowers. This one was seen at Martin Mere wetlands enjoying nectar from a wildflower, possibly Common Valerium.
