A stage stop west of Richardson's Tavern in Westford village, about three and a quarter miles east of Moose Meadow village on Center Turnpike.

This spot is little over a half mile north of the top of Troop's Hill which in early town records, circa 1718, is known as the Pine Hill or White Pine Hill in the west end of Ashford. The Westford Society Meeting House was located on the top of the hill. The Chism Mill road ran from the Mount Hope River to the top of the hill and then branched, with one leg continuing westerly to Moose Meadow village the other northerly to Union.
