Tiryns - Tholos tomb
The tholos tomb of Tiryns is an underground tholos structure built around 1300 BC.
It is located approximately 1 km east of the ruins of ancient Tiryns. The dromos measures 13.70 m in length and 3 m in width. It is constructed from roughly hewn limestone slabs.
The tholos chamber has a diameter of approximately 8.50 m and a height of 8 m. In the northern part of the tomb, there was a burial pit lined with limestone plaster. During the Roman Imperial period, the tomb was likely looted and subsequently used as an oil mill. Fragments of the millstone can still be found.
