The church was erected in the name of Agia Matrona as a curse by two young children after their healing from illness, thanks to the saint.

The inauguration of the church was performed by the Metropolitan of Paphos George on April 24, 2015, who had provided the space for the construction.

Saint Matrona was born in 1881 in Russia, blind from birth . She died in 1952. From the age of 6 she was given the foresighted and insightful gift. She knew what would happen to everyone and so he advised them, warned them and healed them. St. Matrona prophesied the Bolshevik revolution, the fall of the Tsars and the return of Orthodoxy to Russia.
