Paphos - Agia Solomoni Catacombs

This is an underground complex of burial chambers dating back to the Hellenistic period.

In the 9th century, the catacombs were converted into a Christian chapel. The site is named after the Christian saint Solomon, who, according to legend, sought refuge there from Roman persecutors.

At the entrance to the catacombs is an old pistachio tree ("wishing tree"), adorned with offerings from worshippers. The tree is said to have healing powers.
