Paris is the capital and largest city of France, with over 2 million inhabitants and more than 13 million in the greater metropolitan area.

Built between 1887 and 1889, this 10,100-ton structure was erected as a monumental entrance gate and observation tower for the World's Fair commemorating the centenary of the French Revolution.
At 330 meters tall, it was the tallest building in the world until 1930 and still dominates the Paris skyline today.
