Menir de Padrão

The Menhir de Padrão belonged to a group consists of fifteen menhirs, originally forming a cromlech, which has been destroyed. The Menhir of Padrão is the only one that is standing, while all the others are fallen, and some are fragmented.

The menhirs were probably installed during the Neo-Chalcolithic period. In 1994, archaeological research was carried out, during which the remains of an ancient settlement that would have been inhabited around 4,500 BC, during the Neolithic period, were found, meaning that the menhir may be one of the oldest in western Europe.
