The death of Socrates

Sigh. Earlier, elsewhere, I posted a quote from within the Essays of Michel De Montaigne; [“I hate men who jabber about philosophy, but do nothing.” —Pacuvius, ap Gellium, xiii. 8.]

After spending most of the morning (over 4 hours) reading snippets from many of the well known gentlemen that plowed that field, I ended up making this pastel of the death of Socrates sketch that pretty much sums it all up.

Pastels on 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 colored card stock.
