Here in the interior of Alaska the ravens spend a lot of time in the parking lots of the local grocery stores, even when the temperatures are down as low as -50 degrees.

The reason being, a lot of folks have pickup trucks and they'll put their groceries that freezing won't damage, including large bags of dog food that they've bought elsewhere, in the backs of their pickups. The ravens have learned such bags are quite easy to tear open and the food therein is delicious.

Many dog mushers (dog sledders) have learned to do their grocery shopping first and then go to the animal feed store last to buy their dog food, just before driving home, so the ravens don't have time to peck open the bags while they are in buying groceries, but not all have learned.

Subsequently the ravens still do quite well shopping in the supermarket parking lots. :-)
