seven sisters beachy head lighthouse-DSC 5098

The Beachy Head lighthouse, viewed from the clifftops, Sussex, UK. It was built in 1902 and replaced an older lighthouse, the Belle Tout lighthouse, that was located on top of the cliffs. The older lighthouse could not always be seen in fog or when low clouds covered the cliff tops, a serious impediment to the function of a lighthouse.

An excellent picture, very nicely composed of four distinct sections to frame your main subject. Seldom is it done as well as this. Plus we get an interesting history to illuminate us. Thank you!

Andrew Trundlewagon replied to Pam J:

Hi Pam, I am really pleased that you enjoyed these pictures. It is a very beautiful part of the country. I can relate to the homesickness; I was born a little North of London (Watford) but spent many years in Sussex before the "uncertain vagaries of life" led me to settle in Canada. All the very best wishes, Andrew
