CD 230 Hemingray 512 glass insulators in service use

829 W Cherry St., Bluffton, Indiana

Last week I made a trip back down to Bluffton, Indiana and shot about 40 more poles with glass insulators. Sadly, some of the street lighting circuits got changed over on some of the poles.

This shot shows two CD 230 Hemingray 512 glass insulators in service use along with a couple of older looking transformers one being a Line Material can and an old mercury vapor street light.

Interesting that Bluffton seems to still be maintaining a series system. The small can on the line arm is an isolation transformer - these apparently are almost mandatory when using MV or HPS lamps on series because they need a bit more than the usual 6.6 amperes.

Thanks David and for that info! Yeah there are a lot of those small isolation transformers all around Bluffton on the street lighting circuits.
