White Willow

Treasure Hunt: Medicinal Plants;

When I was young and I had a headache I would simply stick my head out of a window... that would get rid of the Pane! :-}}

A favourite with the Druids, this plant is well documented in history as being properly medicinal. Ancient Pharonic hieroglyphs, Sumerian texts and ancient Greek records dating back beyond 2000bc have it listed as anti-inflammatory. The active ingredient is 'Salicin' which, when treated with sodium salicylate becomes acetylsalicylic acid otherwise known today as 'Aspirin'
White Willow grows all over Eurasia.
