Laid Up

When a military standard or colours are laid up (retired) they have to remain in place until they completely disintegrate then with the pole they are buried in consecrated ground the site is not marked, at Leicester Cathedral where that is not practical the remains are carefully wrapped in tissue paper and placed in a chest, there is a gap where one has been removed
My photo 'Levitation ' the sculptures are made of gold and silver in the 1970s a robbery took place at the cathedral the items were found in London but unfortunately they had been melted down the metal was used for the sculptures they appear to be spheres but are discs each side being different
