Thank you for your comments Tanja, it's a copy of one in Athens, a lot of the old English country estates had follies ( structures that had no purpose ) they were built to show off wealth, this estate had a imitation ruin but it was badly damaged in a flood about 1750. Because of the light the photo is the back of the arch it faces the big house. A belated HFF and a nice weekend

It would be folly to call the arch anything other than a garden ornament.
