Pam J and I constantly got into 'disagreements' over how things are named ..
As she is from the UK, a biscuit to her isn't the same as to me ...
It got really funny at times !
( with gravy - especially white gravy is a Southern thing -- my Mom from NY never served anything like that nor did we ever have grits .. which I love - got to have some cheese in them ).
Mom didn't season anything until it got to the table, then you seasoned it as you wanted it.
Will never forget the look on my husband's face(boyfriend at the time) when he took a taste of green beans.
They were plain -- in the South, they are cooked with ham/sausage flavoring at least ... Mom's had nothing - not even salt and pepper !
No, I don't cook like Mom !
