35028 Clan Line.....UK Rail Tours

35028 Clan Line is a preserved British steam locomotive, a member of the 'Merchant Navy' Class, built in 1948. After a long career on the national network, it was restored by the Merchant Navy Locomotive Preservation Society and now operates on mainline excursions, often hauling luxury Pullman trains. Today it was travelling from London to Havant and back again.

I had no idea this was running today. I just noticed a large number of people on the railway bridge when we were on our way back from shopping, and when I investigated I saw the train just pulling into Havant Station. I just had time to grab one shot before it went past the bridge.

It just goes to show you should always have a camera with you..!!

It awakens the desire to travel by train, Keith...for me, the best public transport.
In Portugal it was a common mode of transport.
Then came the roads, highways, motorways...the railway lines were reduced to a minimum.

Keith Burton replied to J.Garcia:

I'm pleased you were able to relate to this shot Judite.

I worked on the railway for 17 years and used the trains a lot, but off-duty I mostly used my car. Now I have given up driving and my current modes of transport are the train and buses, which I am getting used to.

Thanks for dropping in and commenting..!!

A very popular pastime traveling on these old restored trains and lines. The Merchant Navy class locomotives are all very attractive. You had a lucky and great fine on this day Keith and yes, proving that the best camera and lens is the one that you have with you. Nice frame too, Well done.

Cheers. Herb

Although I worked for 17 years on the railway, these steam trains were still a rare sight to see. We used to get notified when they were coming to our area, but of course now I've retired I have no way of knowing other than searching online. This was an unexpected surprise.

Glad you like the shot my friend and thanks for your kind comments as always. Have a good week..!!
