A view from the bridge over the railway.

This is the view from the pedestrian bridge over Havant railway station, about a five minute walk from my house, looking towards the road bridge.

This was a test shot to try out my new (to me) camera.......a Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TZ100. I decided I needed a compact (ish) camera I could fit into a coat pocket, when doing everyday stuff. It's actually far more complicated than my "proper" cameras and it's taking a bit of getting used to, but so far, so good..!!

Best viewed large, I think.

nice shot. New cameras always seem a bit complicated at first but I find I soon get used to options I do use and ignore or at least leave the rest for now.

Keith Burton replied to Colin Ashcroft:

Thanks very much Colin. I'm not in a great hurry, so I'll just take it out and play with the various options to see what suits me best.

Yep better viewed large.
It's always good to get a new bit of kit I got a new Olympus EM10 mark 4 a few weeks ago and fitted with a pancake lens it slides nicely into a pocket. Not sure if I like it as much as my mark 1 though as it is far more complicated :(

Keith Burton replied to James:

Glad you like the shot James........thank you so much.

I've been looking for a decent one of these for a while, after a friend recommended it. I'm sure I'll get used to it soon.........if it ever stops raining!

I have an EM10 Mk3.......I use it with the Olympus 12-50 lens, which has a dedicated macro function. It's quite lightweight and easy to use.

Keith Burton replied to Günter Klaus:

Thank you so much for these interesting comments Güni. I also have an old Panasonic FZ1000 camera, which I originally bought for my wife (but she lost interest in it). I've used it a few times, but I find it awkward to use, so I'll probably sell it on.

Glad you like the view of the railway tracks. Have a lovely evening my friend. Best wishes, Keith.

Seems to work great Keith, I had one of those cameras although very nice images I found the buttons were to fiddlly in the end and replaced it with the sony rx100 vii, fingers crossed you get on with it better than I did. It did produce some fine photo though.

Keith Burton replied to Ajophotog:

Cheers mate. It definitely has a different feel to my Olympus cameras, but I'm sure I'll get used to it in due course. I've been looking around for one for a while since a friend recommended it. Time will tell, I suppose!

A great railway image Keith I have an early Dmc TX 18 the only problem I've had not being weather sealed it tends to suck in dust to the sensor. There are couple of pancake lens for your"proper' camera a 14-42 f3.5-5.6 and a 17mm f2.8 you may get second hand one for a reasonable price. I got an Olympus EPL8 it's ok but with only one operating dial it's easiest on aperture priority

Keith Burton replied to Peter Castell:

Thanks very much Peter........glad you like the shot.

This one is not weather sealed, but I'm not too bothered as I have a couple of Olympus cameras that are. This is really just for snapshots and probably family stuff.

I was looking at an Olympus 14-42 pancake lens earlier today in one of the London Camera Exchange shops, but it was a bit overpriced. Anyway it would have been "nice to have" rather than "need to have", so I was sensible for a change and left it :-)))

Why keep things simple when you can make them complicated?
These digital cameras are designed for amateurs, but their instruction manuals are as complicated as those for aeroplanes!
I mostly stick to automatic mode.

Keith Burton replied to Typo93:

Ha, ha..........that sums up most digital cameras I think :-))

I don't use the automatic mode on my Olympus cameras, but I might give it a try with this one.

Believe it or not, the manual is 206 pages long :-)))
