Woodland Finds

As much as I hate to admit it, I think my days of crawling around the woodland floor taking photos are numbered. My knees and back just can't take it anymore without a three day rest afterwards :-)))

It's much easier to take a little bag with me and collect stuff to photograph at home and this is just what I've done here.

I set up a small table in the back garden (in the sunshine). I used natural light and a piece of card pinned to my fence as a background with a subtle texture added. To get maximum depth of field I did an in-camera focus stack. I hope you like it.

Nice to read about your 'method'.. there Keith,.. sounds like a good idea for an extension of the hobby of photography and capturing perfect results of ones' subjects,.. I've read of focus stacking but never attempted it,..// Keep well,. and Cheers'.... from Dj.

Keith Burton replied to David G Johnson:

Thanks David.............it seems the sensible thing to do.............I'm glad you agree, and thanks for your kind comment.

I only started using photo-stacking when Olympus automated it and allowed us to do it all in-camera............it was far too difficult and time consuming before.

What a good idea to take a bag Keith. On the background you have chosen, I think it highlights the subject beautifully, and probably better than on the forest floor. Excellent work. My hip is a bit dodgy, so I will remember your tip!

Nice to sit out in the sunshine Keith. Looking good today as well :-))

Keith Burton replied to Rosalyn Hilborne:

You're very kind Rosa...........falling on my backside earlier this year was the last straw!

Glad you like this photo............I was pleased with how it turned out and it's always good to get some positive feedback.

It's been a pretty good day today..........didn't take many photos but we went out for lunch, which was nice.

Great idea and very nicely created Keith. I use photo stacking for macro shots and it works well here too! The choice of background makes a very effective canvas to display and highlight your woodland collection.

Keith Burton replied to Ed Synchro:

Glad you think so Ed..............I use photo-stacking for some of my macro shots as well. Being able to do it in-camera is awesome.

Thanks for your kind comments as always. Much appreciated.
