Island Flyer
A hovercraft arrives in Southsea having travelled from the Ryde on the Isle of Wight............seemingly being led onto the beach landing area by a passing gull.
The hovercraft, which can carry up to 25 passengers, is the fastest way to travel from Southsea to the Isle of Wight (Ryde). Generally a one-way trip only takes 10 minutes or so. It is the world's only year round passenger hovercraft service.

Something I love to watch when in Southsea. A great way to travel.
A shame there are not more in service!

I love to travel in them........and much quicker than a ferry.
There is a really interesting Hovercraft Museum at what used to be called HMS Daedalus in Lee-on-Solent. The do open days as well, which are worth a half day out.
