The View from the Salt Shack

Taken last Sunday when my wife and I met up with my oldest daughter and some friends at the Salt Shack Café adjacent to Northney Marina on Hayling Island, Hampshire.

It was raining when we left home and when we arrived I left my camera in the car. When we left the café an hour or so later the rain had stopped and so I grabbed a quick shot using my smartphone camera. It had started to rain again, by the time we walked back to the car, so this was my photography for the day :-))

Best viewed large I think. Have a good weekend everyone.

Thank you so much David...............it's kind of you to say so. I rarely use my phone for photography, but sometimes it's handy to have it to hand.

Wonderful sky and a well composed marina seen Keith
a nice selection of boat ages and styles with true colours,
I like the great atmosphere, which completes a lovely image.

Keith Burton replied to Roger (Grisly):

I discovered the Marina had a decent café last year Roger and it's only a 10 minute drive away. I've never taken photos there before though. I shall have to do a bit more exploring in the summer (assuming we get one). A lot of the local area is out-of-bounds to the general public though............but who knows!

One thing about these little yacht harbours Keith - they always look cheerful with there many colours and lines. I too take full advantage with the camera when I am at such places. Nice work here.

Have a good weekend. Herb

I must admit the technology nowadays is absolutely amazing. Before all this digital technology, you could only take a picture with a camera and then you had to wait days before you actually got the prints back from the printers. 9 times out of 10, the picture wasn't exactly how you'd wanted it to turn out, but the time and place was long gone by then. I must admit my mobile does take very good photos, and my mini camera isn't too heavy to carry around.

This is a lovely picture of the marina and the sky looks fine, you'd never know that it was raining before and afterwards.

A nice cafe by the marina I hope. I think that photographs with rain are much more atmospheric. In my car there is no lack of a camera and a raincoat.
