A good job they have a cafe Keith! Great for viewing and coffee! It must have been very amusing, but I wonder what the gull was planning to do with it? Did it think there was something inside? You have captured it so beautifully in mid-drop!! The sea and pebbles are also captured beautifully! A super image and story.

The bird is actually on a small island covered in pebbles in a small lake inside the WWT site. I think it may have been trying to build a place to lay eggs, but who knows.

It was quite cold outside and it kept me amused while I drank my coffee and got warm. Free entertainment..!!

Oh it's only a youngster, which is why it probably couldn't work out how to keep that stone. It was probably because the stone was bigger than the youngster had envisaged.

He's not fully adult yet, Keith. Give him a chance. This time next year he'll be able to readjust the whole beach.
PS I saw a twisted hazel with female flowers on it this week. keep checking. ;-)
