Abstract Textures in Wood

All taken in Dell Quay, West Sussex in the boat yard. The larger image is part of a wooden post that had been set on fire late last year. The other two are from a large piece of driftwood (an old tree trunk) that had washed up on the shore.

I did not have a macro lens with me so I used my 12-40mmm zom lens which has pretty good close focusing.

Best viewed large.

Keith Burton replied to Roger (Grisly):

Thanks Roger.............I'm very happy you enjoyed this collection. That bit of driftwood looked very old and gnarly. Have a good week yourself.

I love these pictures of wood - and the focus you got on them, even without your special lens is superb. I love the patterns on the driftwood, were the patterns made from the movement of the tide I wonder?

Keith Burton replied to Jenny McIntyre:

I'm glad you approve Jenny...........thank you so much.

I think that mainly the patterns were made by the grown of the tree when it was alive but it will have got wet and been dried out many times over, which would have caused the cracks and distortions in the wood.
