The UK Met Office uprated the wind warning to Amber for the second named storm of the season, as the previous Storm Austen was about to leave England, heading for Europe.
I live just inside the southern edge of the Amber Warning Area - hatches were already battened down for the previous yellow wind warning - and heavy rain is expected for most of Saturday.

NOTE [E2A] : later versions have the Amber Warning area extending further south in northern England - to cover all of the Lake District.

Coastal conditions last night [24/25th Oct 2026] were really not helped by the tides being at their peak ie "Springs" - I'm surprised I didn't spot a storm surge being mentioned in the coverage.
