cls[24] - headlamp [Explored][SC114]

Hetherington Co headlamp No.421 on the port side of this traction engine [422 is on the starboard side]. The lens is quite the bullseye.

www.hetheringtonlamp.co.uk - I recognized the name, as Hetheringtons also make a wide range of "heritage" oil cans and I had been reminded of the company by a recently seen advert.

The building of traction engine [or railway locomotive] headlamps is nearly a lost metalworking skill - almost an art, working with quite thin metal sheets, brass and glass. Not to mention the details of the oil lamp inside.
