That beast is a German Tank Transporter [just the tractor unit and is 8x8] built by Faun in the 1970s ...
it was designed to move the German Leopard 1 Main Battle Tank which has a mass of 42 tonnes on a trailer developed by Krupp. When the heavier Leopard II was developed, the transporter was upgraded to suit.
