Kundun

Kundun is a 1997 biographical film directed by Martin Scorsese that tells the story of the 14th Dalai Lama, from his childhood recognition as a spiritual leader to his escape from Tibet after the Chinese invasion. The film features a unique, episodic approach and stunning cinematography, with the title "Kundun" meaning "The Presence" in Tibetan. Despite critical acclaim for its artistic merit, Kundun faced political controversy due to its portrayal of the Chinese occupation and was commercially buried by its distributor, Disney, to avoid damaging its relationship with the Chinese government.
