Roughly two or three centuries after Suryavarman II’s reign, when Hinayana Buddhism spread over Cambodia, Angkor Wat was turned into a monastery. Buddhist monks placed inside the monument gold-covered images of the Buddha, when they worshiped then continue to worship today. All parts of Buddha are scared, even the footprints that he made while walking and preaching. In the left background a golden image of buddha’s foot can be seen
